Time Sure Flies.......

I didn't realize just how fast the time flew by the past month and a half. It would be nice if we could just slow time for a while to truely be able to enjoy what we do and not feel so rushed.

I've become a member of Facebook, due to the slight nagging of my sister and hearing how fun it is be several people. So i took their advice and got myself an account and now I'm a bit hooked, lol. Soo many game and stuff you can do on there. I like it but then time once agay flies and the next thing I know I have to hurry up and clean or hurry up and get ready for work. I haven't been this hooked to the computer in a few years, lol.

I know for almost 3 weeks I've done not much of anything as far as my crafts, but that doesn't mean I haven't printed off patterns, lol. I have a pile of patterns here waiting for me to start. It became like that from ...you guessed it Facebook, lol.

I'll be sending off my care package hopefully within a month. I did recieve a beautiful purple bracelet to send to Lisa. The crafter of this gift has some wonderful tallent. I'll have to take another picture or see if it is still on my camera. I could have sworn I took a picture. A thank you will go to the maker at the time I deliver the package.

After seeing how nice of work was done, I gave it more of a try myself. Crocheting with wire can be a bit tricky but it's actually fun.

This I made with size 10 or 20 cotton thread.

In the center I crocheted around one of those aquarium stones and added beads.

I love how this one looks. But I did notice I may have to get my 26 guage wire and see if it makes the necklaces alittle more flexible.

And this is one of my absolute favorites sofar. Can you tell I love the color purple, lol. I know I'll be making a few more of these and have some for gift giving too. I truely love it.

And last but not least.... a crocheted rosary with a little pouch. I'll be making more of these and the necklaces above for the bazaar I'm taking part in.

The pouch still needs a button. Picture kinda looks like a teapot huh? lol
I'll be making some for adults as well as children. I have plenty of scrap yarn to make the pouches with. Thankfully something else i can use the scraps on.

Alot of FO's for Care Package

We've had a nice change in the weather here in Pa. It finally reached the 50's. I am sooo ready for spring and the warmer weather to come. I miss sitting outside on my porch and crocheting. It's so relaxing.
But until that day comes again, I'll be keeping my couch nice and warm as I do my crocheting there "sigh".

I've been pretty busy working on my care package. Sad to say that no one at Crochetville has mentioned anything about helping with donations. Iguess everyone is pretty busy. I still hope to gain some help from someone out there. It's all for a good cause and the reciever loves how crochet looks, just doesn't know how to crochet. She is such a wonderful person and is a very lucky woman to be with us.

I've made pretty good progress sofar with the care package...
This is the "Rainbow Bear" I made for myself a while ago. I think the reciever will love it, lol. He would have a better home with Lisa anyway. He's so cute, lol. And was really fun to make too. I got the pattern free online.

This is a little basket I whipped up, lol. It's alittle sad looking but I'm no pro with making up my own pattern.
I thought I would put some flavored tea bags in it.
Unlessss I decide to try to make another one, lol.

This is one of the scarves I've made. I can't remember the kind of yarn, maybe Red Heart, but it's know to self stripe. So cool to work with.

<<< Gift #3

(note to self...I need to buy more of this yarn for MEEEEE!)

This is the completed comfortghan. The flower squares are from when I was in a Fleur Swap a couple years ago. I'm happy to "finally" use them up. It's not like me to make a ghan with squares, but to be honest it wasn't that bad. I'd like to make one for myself next. All this ghan needs is washed to have it look alittle better and to soften it up a bit.

The picture isn't the best. But here's a pot holder or hot pad. It's made of 100% cotton yarn.

This is scarf #2. I love how it's lacey looking. Can wear it on those cold days but not those god awful cold days, lol.

I think this is it for now as far as pictures go. I have some on my camera just now downloaded. I have also made and completed a gift basket with face scrubbies in it. I am currently working on some face cloths and will make a square basket out of cotton yarn as well to put them in. Ummm what else is there...I am thinking of making a prayer shawl, just don't know if the colors I have picked out will look good or now. I have one prayer shawl that Navy in color started. I'll have the other pictures posted soon I hope.
Like I mentioned before, this is all for a good cause. The reciever will be sooo happy and shocked I believe whole heartedly and any thing your would like to share would be truly appreciated. Please email me at pinkopal71@gmail.com. I don't think there's one month or week that Lisa isn't feeling sick in one way or another. She needs to know that there are people out there that do care for others that they aren't able to see.
I hope you enjoyed my little show and tell of my finished projects!!!

Taking time .....

I've been alittle slow in my blog posts. You know how that goes. Life has kinda been busy along with some other things. No excuse Iguess, but I'm here now so hope you enjoy the read.

I've been working on alot of crochet lately. I'll be visiting a truely special friend in my life next month. We've known each other many years, since I was in 7th grade. She has asked me to help her with her churches Bazaar. We have a meeting in March to share all kinds of ideas for grown ups and children.

This is where I got the idea of making her a Care Package. My friend (Lisa) has been thru hell the past several years with her health. She's so very lucky to still be on this earth with us. She in times wants me to show her how to crochet. That should be a huge challenge for me since I'm a lefty and she's a righty. She is always so surprised, touched and loves everything thing I have made for her in the past. But for that, it too has been a long time.

I would love to make her a Care Package with your help. I had mentioned at Crochetville how I am really hoping to collect donations for this package for Lisa. I have already started making some things for her. Infact I just finished a comfortghan for her, where the squares were made by other crocheters from all over when I was still in a past crochet group. The squares were for an afghan for myself to make, but I never did get around to making it. So I made it into a lapghan for Lisa. I want to deliver it hopefully the first week of April, but without much help coming my way, I may have to change the date. Lisa has no idea of what going to happen, lol. I will be taking pictures since I now have a better camera that I can take outside the house.

If you would like to help me....please....please email me or leave a comment and I'll get back to you. I suggest you leave a return address for thank you notes that would be sent by the reciever. So please even the tiniest crocheted item would add much happiness to her.

Please take the time to help others out like we all do from time to time to help make another persons day alittle bit brighter and to show their not alone in this world.

Take care everyone!!!

You can see some of the items I have made here... care package pictures.

Fleece Crafting And Ball Dancing

After a long time of wondering and trying to convince myself that I would do a decent job, I finally made a no-sew fleece bag. I had about enough of looking at the good clearance deals on fleece and went to JoAnn’s while I was out shopping with my daughter for her Snowball dress and bought myself some black fleece and floral colored fleece. Can’t believe I didn’t even take time to really look at the floralness of it, just noticed that it matched, lol. I was just all excited to be getting material!
So last night I took my time (mostly, lol) and made this creation that my DH said looked really good and pointed out how the flowers lined up with the flap. How sweet is that?! I was just so focused on making it that I didn’t notice that either, lol. Now watch, the next one I make won’t be as nice, lol.
The whole thing is knotted and the strap is made by braiding 6 strips, by 2’s. I made it that way for alittle more strength. I tried it out today and took it to work with me, some of my co-workers said it looked really nice and they were surprised that I made that. (yep…it was me….all meee, lol) I’m definately going to make more of these some day. I still have other fleece projects in mind.

As for the dress hunting I was going innitially for and with my daughter. We came across a beautiful dress for her to go to her Jr. High Snowball Dance in. She’ll be going with an old neighbor of ours, before we moved. How cool is that, someone I know, lol.

Another Holiday On It's Way

Isn’t it just a wonderful thing? We get thru the most expensive holiday {which I have yet to blog about, I know} and not even 2 months go by and there’s another. I’ve been looking to see what I can make and who to give a special crochet Valentine to.
My ideas sofar are…..

1. Long Stem Roses {good one}

2. Be My Valentine Scarf

3. Valentine Heart Fridgie {I’d be making them into pins}

4. Crocheted Hearts {I love this one}

Have any ideas you’d like to share, leave me a comment and I’ll check them out too!!!!

My Christmas Tree 2008

It took me a long time to finally put some action into my own vision of a christmas tree with all crocheted ornaments. I’ve seen many trees like this in books and magazines and some in stores and have always thought they looked beautiful. Even better with hand made ornaments rather than store bought. Something special about them iguess. I just loved the idea and finally got tired of thinking about doing my own some day.

Soooo within about a months time, give or take, I whipped up some candy candes, oreo cookies, stockings, snowflakes…large and small, snow balls, mittens, tassels, christmas pickle, angels, holly scarves, sachets, bells, ice skates, mini sweaters….and I still have many more ideas for more ornaments. The picture doesn’t do it justice, but as you know real life is way better. In real life the tree looks alot fuller. I had a hard time getting the liting right to have as many ornaments show up as I could. It pretty damn good for a first try, I’d have to say, lol.
P.S. I forgot to mention there is 1 knitted ornament, lol. I had made a mini sock a couple years ago and I still love it.

A Bit Disappointed

Well I've decided to stay with Blogger for my blogging. I don't like how you have to stay logged into my other one just to comment to other blogs. It was becoming annoying. I really liked it here anyway, there are a couple things i wish I was able to do here, but nothing too serious. I am glad I did try a different blog site.

Sooo now I'll be putting what I had posted at my other blog onto here.
